This month Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has been doing the rounds with wedding invitations. With his fiancée, the singer Bella Astillah, he has called on Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, sought marital advice from Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and on 22 September hand-delivered a card to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, posting a warm tribute to the man who brought him into Bersatu at 23 and put his name forward as a minister at 25. The visits have been charming, widely shared, and carefully photographed. They have also been a reminder that, more than two months after the Federal Court ended his criminal case, Malaysians still do not know what Syed Saddiq intends to do next.
